I. Introduction
Pre-University Program of LEC, SJTU is a non-degree program designed for international students to enhance their language skills, academic performance, and cultural adaptability. The students can thus lay a solid foundation for their further undergraduate study.
Pre-University Program consists of:
Program A: This program is designed for students who have already reached a good level of Chinese language proficiency (HSK 4≧180 or equivalent) but need remediation of academic subjects of Chinese, English and Mathematics to meet the requirements of SJTU undergraduate admissions.
II. Eligibility
1. Graduates of senior high school (or above)
2. Non-Chinese citizens who hold a foreign passport and comply with the relevant regulations set by the “Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC " and etc.
3. Students who are physically and mentally healthy
4. Students who are aged between 17 and 23 before registration
III. Curriculum
Program A:
Registration for Program A (For Transferred Student) will begin in February, 2024 (the specific time will be informed on the admission notice). One semester in half a year will last for 10 weeks.

VI. Application Documents and Fees
Application Materials
1. Senior high school diploma or equivalent (2023 graduating students should provide an official statement from your high school as proof of graduation);
2. School Profile (e.g. Overall Introduction, Admission Requirement, Enrollment Rate, Curriculum, Grading System, University Acceptance of Graduates and etc.);
3. Passport information page (valid for more than 6 months) and color photo of passport photo size (bareheaded, against white background);
4. Personal statement in Chinese or English with signature (with contents including but not limited to personal background, hobbies and expertise, reasons for applying the program and study plan);
5. One recommendation letter in Chinese or English (with signature and contact information, such as Email address and Tel, etc.);
6. Academic certificate (including but not limited to):
6.1 High school official transcripts, including all courses taken.
6.2 Test scores of the national high school graduation exam or college entrance exam in the country or region, such as SAT/ACT/IB/A-level/UEC, etc. If the above test results cannot be obtained at the time of application, an explanation must be provided.
7.Award certificates (if any) and other supportive materials.
8. Birth certificate of applicants and the nationality or household registration certificate of both the applicant's parents (Passport or ID card);

9. HSK examination score report (level 4 or above) or equivalent certificate.
10.Applicants under 18 years old (until September 1, 2023) should provide a letter of guarantee signed by their guardian in China (a notarized copy document approved by SJTU is required).
11.Applicants whose one or both parents are Chinese citizens should provide the following materials:
11.1 Certificate of the applicant obtained foreign nationality at birth or afterward.
11.2 For applicants who obtained foreign nationality at birth,
①if one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens with permanent residence abroad, certificate of the corresponding permanent residence needs to be provided; ②if one or both of the parents are Chinese citizens without permanent residence abroad, certificate of the withdrawal from Chinese nationality of the applicant needs to be provided.
11.3 For applicants who were originally Chinese citizens and obtained foreign nationalities afterward, a certificate for the cancellation of their original registered residence in China and the renunciation of the Chinese nationality should be provided.
11.4 The entry and exit seal page of visiting China on the applicant's passport from April 30, 2019 to the time of application.

①If any of the above application materials are not in Chinese or English, a notarized translation in Chinese or English shall be provided.
②There is no need to mail hard copies of supporting materials during application.

Note: Whether the applicant is admitted or not, his or her application fee will not be returned.
VII. Application Procedures
1.Visit elearning.sjtu.edu.cn/register, register a new account according to the instruction, and then login to the online application system;
2.Complete the application form and submit the application materials according to the instructions in the system;
3.Pay the application fee of CNY 800;
4.The admission decision is based on a comprehensive evaluation of all the application materials as well as integrative test (by case basis);
5.The applicant who gets admitted will need to pay the full tuition fee in the application system within time limit;
6.The eligible applicant will receive official admission documents;
7. The Applicant should apply for student visa and come to SJTU to register at the required location within time limit.

IX. Tuition
Note: The above fees include tuition and undergraduate application guidance fees, excluding textbook fees, insurance fees, accommodation fees and other expenses.
X. Accommodation and management
The accommodation will be arranged by SJTU on Qibao campus. The specific dormitories are allocated by the school.
